Meet Carol
At the heart of Wellbeings X-Training is Carol Hughes – a coach whose experience is matched only by her enthusiasm for helping people move, improve and enjoy the journey. Carol has been coaching swimmers, runners and multi-sport athletes for more than 25 years, having run her Perth-based program since the early 2000s.
Carol knows what she is talking about, because she has done it herself at the highest level. A former elite triathlete, she represented Australia at multiple world championships and at the 1990 Commonwealth Games, was twice named Australian Triathlete of the Year, and was inducted into the Australian Triathlon Hall of Fame as a Legend of the Sport. She backs this with a masters degree in exercise physiology and a Level 2 (Performance) coaching accreditation with Triathlon Australia – so every program is built on real science as well as real racing experience.
What makes Carol special is that she coaches everyone the same way she coached herself: with care, precision and a genuine sense of fun. Whether you are an elite athlete chasing a podium, someone rebuilding strength and confidence after injury, or simply wanting to get fit and stay that way, Carol designs a personalised program around your goals, your schedule and your physiology – complete with tailored heart rate, pace and power training zones.
From your first open-water swim to a marathon finish line, a triathlon, a trail run or an ocean crossing, Carol will meet you where you are and take you further than you thought you could go – across swimming, running and cycling. Just as importantly, you will have a great time doing it, alongside a warm and welcoming community of like-minded people.
