I’m sure you’ve been following with considerable interest how the Kona Kids have been going in their preparation for the Ironman World Championships in Kona on October 13th. Pam Criddle and Jane Snowden could not have done more towards this one goal. The organization needed to fit in Ironman training, working, parenting and maintaining relationships is quite remarkable. Throughout this last month Pam and Jane had an opportunity to acclimatise for Hawaii in the Environmental Chamber in the School of Exercise Science at UWA. The programme had the girls training in the ‘chamber’ for 100 minutes every third day. The conditions started at 32 degrees with 30% humidity and have now progressed to 36 degrees and 60% humidity. Nasty stuff. It should put them in good stead for the race. These girls are made of very tough stuff. I’m sure they’ll have a good day out in Kona.
